U.S. GOVERNMENT WEATHER SERVICES AND WEBSITES
NOAA WEATHER AND ALL HAZZARDS SERVICES, SOUTH FLORIDA - The National Weather Service U.S. Forecast Office is a great source of the latest and future weather details. It also notes manmade or natural disaster updates such as oils spills or terrorist attacks. Click on this link directly into the NOAA coverage summary for southern Florida. It has a wealth of very up to date information.

NOAA ALL HAZZARDS EMERGENCY RADIOS - NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts the latest weather information from your local National Weather Service (NWS) office through 1000 FM transmitters in fifty states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and Saipan. These frequencies are outside the normal AM or FM broadcast bands.

Weather messages are repeated every 4 to 6 minutes and are routinely updated every 1 to 3 hours or more frequently when severe weather strikes. The forecaster can also add special signals to warnings that trigger "alerting" features of specially equipped receivers. In the simplest case, this signal activates audible or visual alarms, indicating that an emergency condition exists within the radio listening area and alerts the listener to turn up the volume and stay tuned for more information.

There are two weather transmitting stations serving the Collier and Lee County areas. :
WWG-92, 162.525 MHz, emergency "SAME" code = 012021. Location is just south of downtown Naples.
WXK-83, 162.475 MHz, emergency "SAME" code = 012071. Location is south of Ft. Myers and overlaps into northern Collier County.
