NOAA ALL HAZZARDS EMERGENCY RADIOS - NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts the latest weather information from your local National Weather Service (NWS) office through 1000 FM transmitters in fifty states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and Saipan. These fr
equencies are outside the normal AM or FM broadcast bands.
Weather messages are repeated every 4 to 6 minutes and are routinely updated every 1 to 3 hours or more frequently when severe weather strikes. The forecaster can also add special signals to warnings that trigger "alerting" features of specially equipped receivers. In the simplest case, this signal activates audible or visual alarms, indicating that an emergency condition exists within the radio listening area and alerts the listener to turn up the volume and stay tuned for more information.
There are two weather transmitting stations serving the Collier and Lee County areas. :
WWG-92, 162.525 MHz, emergency "SAME" code = 012021. Location is just south of downtown Naples.
WXK-83, 162.475 MHz, emergency "SAME" code = 012071. Location is south of Ft. Myers and overlaps into northern Collier County.

LISTEN TO LIVE NOAA WEATHER RADIO - Listen to streaming live audio from the local NOAA weather radio WXK-83 in Fort Myers, FL. This is a fabulous tool for out of state people to monitor all hazards information that may not be current via other web based information. Unfortunately the Naples area station WWG-92 does not stream over the internet but the Fort Myers station has significant overlap to Naples so this remains a pretty good data source for the Collier county area.
To listen, simply click on the small arrow inside the blue circle on the left side of the player below and the audio should start.
[NOTE #1] You might need to click on the arrow a couple times to start the media player.
